Competition in the Make Money Online Business

If you want to go forward with your Business, and make some money, it is important to know who you are up against, and the tactics they employ. In order to make some sense of your research into the Competition, you need either to use Notepad, or Mindmapping to keep a record of your findings. You have already decided on your chosen Niche, in my case, ‘Make Money Online’ and I will use this example, now you want to take the main Keywords you are thinking of, or are using, and Google them. Go through all of those competitors, many will be one day wonders anyway, and of no interest to you.

Do not bother looking at the major players, they have a high budget, there is no way you are going to get above them, and their advertising is targeting a different league anyway. Also do not bother with those in the highlighted bar along the top, or down the right hand side, because these are paid Ads, and unless you have a big budget, you will not be amongst these. Just open some of the adverts, and in your Notes:

1. Make a record of the site address

2. Look at the way they present their Site

3. Swiftly read some of the content, and if there is anything that stands out copy and paste it into your Notes to give you ideas, not I hasten to add, to be used verbatim.

4. Are they selling a product, or providing information, and displaying Affiliate links / banners, to make their money.

5. From these sites, there will most likely be links to other Sites in the same niche (back-links) have a look at a few of these,Google them to see their standing in the search results, and glean whatever information you can from these as well.

There will be other ideas, you will have as to what information you want, but record it all, and use it to good effect. You may well decide to change the direction you were going to take on your Site as a result of this, and if that is the case, then go for it. After all, you want to make money online, not just have a pretty Site, that earns you nothing. Yes, this is a time consuming pastime, but a necessary one, and it will pay dividends in the end.
