Over the past ten years more and more people have been making money on line.  The internet has spawned countless millionaires, and most of these people haven’t even got business premises let alone an offline business.

Everyone has got the emails and has seen the schemes plastered all over the net on how to start making money on line.  But the truth is that most of these are just that – schemes, that never produce any money.  So what is the secret to making money on line?

The secret is – there is no secret!  Firstly it takes work, discipline and the ability to follow a proven method.  Personally, I have found affiliate marketing to be the best way to start making money online.

But there are a lot of poor people out there who are trying their hardest, but are getting it wrong, very wrong in fact.

You see affiliate marketing only works if you target specific ‘niche’ groups.  Most affiliate marketers try to sell every product under the sun.  These people build a decent website or blog and then advertise anything they can get their hands on!

I have seen blogs where they advertise shampoo that prevents hair loss, cheap DVDs, childrens clothing, car air fresheners and lingerie!  This is exactly how not to be an affiliate marketer!

To be a successful internet marketer you need a niche.  In case you don’t know what a niche is, it is a small sector of a larger market.  For example, the health industry is a huge market.  A niche would be people who are looking for products that help prevent hair loss.

If you were looking for products that helped you minimize hair loss and you found a website that tried you sell you all sort of things, would you be temped to stay there and buy?

I know I wouldn’t!  Like most people, I go online for information.  And that is the best way to start making money on line – by giving people the information they are looking for.  The secret to being a good affiliate marketer is to build rapport with them, by giving them free information that helps them solve their problems.

Then you can advertise the products you are selling to them.  But the products have to be directly related to the information they are looking for.  That is the secret to making money on line – give the customer what they want!

So you might start by giving people a free eBook with foods that help prevent hair loss, then after a while these people will begin to trust you.  And that is when you can advertise to them.

I chose affiliate marketing and after following the right steps and process I am now making money on line, and there really is no secret to it.  So long as you follow the right process.
