What You Must Know About Website Promotion

Even though some of “Gurus” say, you can have an online business without having your own website, it is not entirely true.

If you want to run your own internet business, you have to create and own a website. It is an essential part of your online identity and it is the only way to show your customers and clients who you are and allow them to find you — find out more about your company and how you can potentially help them.

As a matter of fact, it’s common and extremely beneficial today, having your own company website even if you run an offline company.

However, you can’t just put up a website for your company if you don’t intend to put some effort to promote it — Not promoting your site will gain you no customers — as simple as that.

Understanding Website Promotion

To promote your website you can use various methods available today. The most common one is placing banners. When you place your banners on other websites they will link back to your site.
This way you gain twice: one you get backlink to your site and improve rankings and second, people will see your company name on other sites and you might gain targeted traffic.

However, this one method isn’t enough to promote your site. You have also to promote your website through SEO — search engine optimization.

  • SEO basically involves submitting your site to various search engines where web surfers can find you after searching for particular key word phrases.

When creating content for your site, you have to place well chosen tags in the text and when a potential client types those tag words in the search box, they will be presented with a link to your website.

SEO is extremely common and powerful tool today when it is done properly. However, it is not the only way of promoting your site.

You can and should use Social book marking sites to get better rankings on SERP’s.

Additionally, you can use paid advertising such as Pay-per-Click, email marketing, ezine ads, submitting Press releases, article marketing, video marketing, blog marketing, back link building, affiliate marketing, etc.

It’s essential to combine these main techniques in your website promotion campaign. However, keep in mind that you have to learn each of these promotion techniques and understand well how to use them to get most of the power they can provide you.

Some of these techniques are easier to understanding while others are more difficult to master. However, if you have a website you have to optimize your site for the best search results.

What You Should Avoid

At the beginning, SEO, search engine optimization mainly was about including as many targeted keywords and phrases as possible in the content within your site.

Many times text didn’t make sense and then search engines began to change the rules to stop junk sites being promoted highly on their networks.

Nowadays, Some “Gurus” recommend limiting keywords use in the content. Means, if your target to specific keyword you have to not overload the content on the page with that keyword.

Seems like it’s time to start obsessing over your content, right? Making sure you use your keywords the PERFECT number of times? Putting the EXECT right number of words in between them, right?

Wrong.

To have good website promotion text that will be favorable to most search engines, you have completely avoid that obsession with keyword density, so you can be free to just create compelling for your visitors content — Content that sells.

If you write the way you talk and don’t use the same keyword every other sentence then you have nothing to worry about.  Search engines will love your content if you provide useful info to your site visitors.

Another point to remember is to keep the keywords as unique as possible. Since, thousands of other websites on the web might be using the same keywords, it would be a good idea to change the word slightly or even have a more specific phrase.

As I mentioned earlier, there are many forms to promote your website but for best results, you should combine a number of different website promotion methods.

Only that way, you will reach more customers and therefore gain more profits!

Even though overall website promotion may seem too complicated for you at first, once you learn the general rules, you will find it as fairly simple task.

Since you have a business now and need more potential clients and customers, website promotion isn’t something you should skip… it’s the only thing where you should put all your efforts and money.
